Cartonboard Christmas Tree

Benson Group builds cartonboard Christmas tree

Benson Group has embraced the festive season by creating a seven-foot tall Christmas tree made entirely from cartonboard.

The tree has been created for St Peter's Church Christmas Tree Festival 2009.

According to the Bardon, Leicestershire-based firm, the tree was the brainchild of managing director Mark Kerridge, who lives in the St Peter's parish.

"The Christmas Tree Festival was organised to attract visitors to the church and to raise funds for the upkeep of the building," Kerridge said.

"When the call for entries came, I thought it might be an interesting challenge for our design department to come up with something made from cartonboard."

Benson's tree was one of 30 entered into the festival, which was officially opened by David Taylor MP on 5 December.
