SIG and YPS win at French Packaging Awards
2019-12-12
From:Packaging News

SIG and Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS) have won a gong each at the 54th edition of the French Packaging Awards.

SIG’s aluminium-free aseptic carton pack SIGNATURE PACK won the ‘environmental’ category.

The pack is mainly made of FSC-certified renewable paperboard from sustainably-managed forests. The polymers (protective layers and closure) that make up the rest of the pack are linked to forest-based renewable material through a certified mass balance system.

YPS, the exclusive UK distributor for Bollore, won in the ‘Environment/Sustainability’ category for the Bolphane BHE 120 shrink film – first nine-micron ‘100% recyclable’ polyolefin shrink film.

It features a weight reduction of up to 40%, with less energy needed for processing.

Melanie Revolte, marketing manager France at SIG, said: “Our aluminium-free carton pack is linked to a by-product from the paper industry known as tall oil for the plant-based feedstock rather than to an agricultural crop, thus avoiding the use of land and resources that could be used to produce food. Working closely with Candia to launch SIGNATURE PACK, both companies have set a real example for the environment on the French dairy market.”
